61 questions about Lekhio

From what the name means to how B2B and B2C pricing is resolved on the server. Grouped, searchable by your browser's find, and written so each answer stands on its own.

The name

Where “Lekhio” comes from, what it means and how to say it.

What does “Lekhio” mean?

Lekhio comes from लेख (lekh) — the Nepali, Hindi and Sanskrit word for something written: an article, a record, an inscription. It descends from the Sanskrit root लिख् (likh), “to scratch or inscribe”. The name means, roughly, “whatever you need written” — which is the product: a system with no fixed forms that you shape to your own business.

Is “Lekhio” a Sanskrit word?

The root is. लिख् (likh) is a Sanskrit verbal root meaning to inscribe or write, and it gives लेख (lekh, a piece of writing), लेख्य (lekhya, a written legal instrument) and लेखा (lekhā, a line — and, in modern Nepali and Hindi, accounts). “Lekhio” itself is coined: lekh plus the software suffix -io.

Why is an ERP named after the word for “writing”?

Because the same Sanskrit root reaches both ends of an ERP. लेख means anything written — which is what a no-code Collections engine gives you, a blank page with no fixed modules. And लेखा, from the identical root, is the everyday Nepali and Hindi word for accounts: a लेखापाल is an accountant, लेखा परीक्षण is an audit. One word for “write whatever you need” and “keep the books” is an unusually exact description of what Lekhio does.

How do you pronounce Lekhio?

LEY-khee-oh — three syllables, /ˈleɪ.kʰi.oʊ/, written लेखिओ. The stress is on the first syllable and the “kh” is the aspirated ख of लेख: a soft breath after the k, not a throaty “ch”.

Does “lekh” really mean accounts in Nepali and Hindi?

लेख means a piece of writing. The related form लेखा (lekhā) is the one that means accounts — it is the standard term across Nepali and Hindi officialdom: लेखापाल (accountant), लेखा परीक्षण (audit), महालेखा परीक्षक (Auditor General). Both come from the same root, which is precisely why the name works for software that spans free-form data and formal accounting.

Who named Lekhio, and when?

The name was chosen by the team at Lacspace Corporation Pvt. Ltd., the company behind the product, founded in 2021 by Eallen Karna and registered in both India and Nepal. It was picked after the no-code Collections engine already existed — the engine came first, and the name had to describe something that deliberately refuses to be one fixed thing.

Do I need to speak Nepali or Hindi to use Lekhio?

No. Lekhio’s interface is in English, and the name is the only part of it you will need to pronounce. The etymology explains the design philosophy; it is not a requirement to use the product.

Is Lekhio only for businesses in Nepal and India?

No. Lekhio is built first for the realities of doing business in Nepal and India — how invoices are itemized, how receivables are chased, how stock moves — because the team lives in those markets. But a system flexible enough to model any business, connected end to end and available on web, mobile and API, serves companies well beyond the region.

Lekhio basics

What the product is, who it is for and what it replaces.

What is Lekhio?

Lekhio is a no-code ERP for B2B and B2C businesses. Instead of shipping fixed modules, it gives you a Collections engine: you design your own pages, fields and relationships, and sales, invoicing, purchases, inventory and finance run on top of the structure you defined. It works on the web, on native iOS and Android apps, and through a complete REST API.

What makes Lekhio different from other ERPs?

Most ERPs force your business to work the way the software expects — rigid modules, fixed fields, and a consultant to bend them. Lekhio inverts that. A no-code Collections engine with 18+ field types lets you design your own pages and fields, so the system molds to how you already operate rather than the other way round.

Who is Lekhio for?

Businesses that run real operations — distribution, wholesale, trading, retail, manufacturing and services — and have outgrown spreadsheets without wanting a six-month ERP implementation. It suits both B2B sellers with account customers and credit terms and B2C sellers billing over a counter, including businesses doing both at once.

Is Lekhio a spreadsheet, a database or an ERP?

All three, deliberately. LUMIFORM gives you an Excel-grade grid to work in; the Collections engine underneath is a proper relational structure with typed fields, relations and validation; and on top of that sit real ERP functions — orders, invoices, stock and receivables. You get spreadsheet freedom without losing accounting rigor.

Can Lekhio replace my spreadsheets?

Yes, and that is the usual starting point. Import your existing sheets as collections, keep working in a familiar grid, and gain what a spreadsheet cannot give you: typed fields, permissions per person, an audit trail, relations between pages, and invoices and stock that update themselves instead of being retyped.

Does Lekhio handle both B2B and B2C?

Yes — including at the same time. You can keep B2B and B2C customers on separate pages and give products separate B2B and B2C price columns; the server then prices each order from the customer it is for, automatically. Nothing changes until you configure it, so a single-channel business is unaffected.

Getting started

Signing up, setting up and getting your data in.

How long does it take to get started?

Minutes to a working account, and typically a day or two to model your business properly. Sign up, and you get a working structure straight away — customers, products, orders and invoices — which you then rename, extend or replace with pages of your own.

Do I need a developer to set it up?

No. You build your data structure, forms and views visually — no code required. When you do want to integrate with something else, a self-documenting REST API, scoped API keys and webhooks are ready for your developers.

Can I import my existing data?

Yes. CSV import is available on every plan, including the free Starter plan, so you can bring customers, products, stock and open balances across from spreadsheets or your previous system. Enterprise includes hands-on migration assistance.

Can I export my data if I leave?

Yes, at any time and on any plan. Your data stays exportable to CSV throughout, and the REST API can read everything programmatically. There is no export paywall and no lock-in.

Do you offer onboarding and migration help?

Growth customers get guided setup resources and email support. Enterprise includes custom onboarding, data migration assistance and a dedicated success manager to help roll Lekhio out across teams.

What if I make a mistake while setting things up?

Structure is editable at any point — add, rename or remove fields and pages as your understanding improves. Documents that must not change, like sent invoices, are protected instead: voiding preserves the record rather than deleting it, so the history stays intact.

Customization & no-code

The Collections engine, field types, views and LUMIFORM.

What is the Collections engine?

It is the core of Lekhio: a no-code builder where you define your own pages (collections) and the fields on them. A collection can be anything you need to record — customers, machines, site visits, batches, complaints, deliveries — and the rest of the system attaches to whatever you have defined.

What field types can I use?

18+ types: text, long text, number, currency, date, single-select, multi-select, checkbox, rating, URL, email, phone, attachment, JSON, status, user and team member — plus the relational ones that make it an ERP rather than a form builder: relation, formula, lookup and rollup.

Can pages link to each other?

Yes. Relation fields connect one collection to another, and lookup and rollup fields pull values across that link — so an order can show its customer’s credit terms, or a customer page can total every invoice raised against it, without any copying.

What is LUMIFORM?

LUMIFORM is Lekhio’s built-in spreadsheet: an Excel-grade grid over your live data. Keyboard navigation, fill handle, multi-cell selection, formulas, formatting and frozen columns — but every cell is a real, typed, permissioned field rather than a loose value in a file.

Can I see the same data in different ways?

Yes. Every collection can be viewed as a table, a Kanban board, a calendar or a gallery, and you can save views with their own filters, sorting and visible columns. Same data, four ways, per person.

Can I customize the invoice layout?

Yes. The Invoice Designer is a drag-and-drop canvas for your invoice PDF — your logo, your fonts and colors, tables, totals, key-value blocks, QR codes, barcodes, signature blocks, status stamps and page numbers. What you design is exactly what the generated PDF renders.

Can I customize the sidebar and navigation?

Yes. You choose which pages appear, how they are grouped and in what order. Lekhio also notices when an essential page is missing — a billing station, a products page, a customers page — and suggests adding it rather than leaving you to discover the gap later.

Sales, invoicing & finance

Orders, billing, payments, stock and the numbers behind them.

What can I run on Lekhio?

The full B2B and B2C operation: customizable collections, sales and orders, itemized invoicing and billing, purchases and inventory, finance and receivables, plus live reports and dashboards — all connected in one system rather than stitched across several.

How does invoicing work?

Invoices carry both product lines and free-form service lines, each with quantity, unit price and tax. They move draft → sent → void, with voiding preserving history rather than erasing it. You can record full or partial payments, generate running customer statements and export a designed PDF.

Does Lekhio support recurring invoices?

Yes. Set a schedule and Lekhio raises the invoice for you on time, every time — useful for retainers, subscriptions, rent and maintenance contracts.

Can I charge different prices to different customers?

Yes. Keep B2B and B2C customers on separate pages, give products a price column per tier, and map each customer page to its column. The server resolves the tier from the customer on the order — never from the request — so the price cannot be changed by the client. If a product has no price for a tier, it falls back to the standard price rather than billing zero.

How does inventory work?

Purchase orders, goods receipt, per-location stock and low-stock alerts. Stock moves as orders and receipts are processed, so what you see is what is actually on the shelf rather than a number somebody remembered to update.

Can I track receivables and who owes me what?

Yes. Finance covers payments, partial payments, aging buckets and per-customer statements, so the collections conversation starts from a figure both sides can see rather than from a reconstruction.

Does Lekhio have a point-of-sale / billing counter?

Yes — the Billing Station. It is a fast counter screen for building a cart from your product catalog, attaching a customer, applying discounts and charges, and raising the order or invoice. It runs full-screen, and what it shows is priced by the same server logic that bills it.

Can I automate repetitive work?

Yes, without scripts. Build rules as WHEN / AND / THEN sentences — when stock drops below a threshold and the status is still “In stock”, notify the buyer and raise a purchase order. Automations run against your own collections and fields, whatever you named them.

Mobile apps

The native iOS and Android apps, and what they can do.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes. Lekhio ships native iOS and Android apps at full parity with the web dashboard — filters, saved views, invoicing, statements, dark and light mode, and email-OTP or password login. They are free on the App Store and Google Play.

Do the apps work with my custom pages?

Yes. The apps read the same Collections structure the web dashboard does, so any page and field you create shows up on the phone without extra configuration.

Does Lekhio send push notifications?

Yes. The mobile apps support push notifications, so approvals, low-stock alerts and automation outcomes reach the right person without them having to open the app to check.

Can I use Lekhio offline?

Lekhio is a connected system and needs a network connection for live data, since prices, stock and permissions are resolved on the server. The mobile apps are built to be usable on the slow and intermittent connections common on a shop floor or in the field.

Security, data & access

Tenancy, permissions, authentication and where your data lives.

Is my data secure and isolated?

Every organization is a separate tenant with strict data isolation, JWT-based authentication and role-based access control (owner, admin, manager, staff) so people only see what they should. One tenant’s queries can never reach another tenant’s records.

Can I control what each team member sees?

Yes. Roles set the baseline, and permissions can be narrowed per page and per action, so a counter staff member can raise invoices without seeing supplier costs or payroll. Filtering happens on the server, not by hiding things in the interface.

Who can see personal details like emergency contacts?

Sensitive personal fields on a team member’s profile — an emergency contact, for example — are visible only to that person and to owners and admins. Other staff see the directory without them.

Does Lekhio record who changed what?

Yes. Records carry creator and last-editor attribution, so you can see who added a customer or last touched an order. Voided documents keep their history rather than disappearing.

How do people log in?

Email and password, or a one-time code sent by email. Sessions use JWT access and refresh tokens, and access is revoked immediately when a team member is removed.

Is my business data used to train AI models?

No. Your operational data belongs to your organization and is not used to train models. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is collected, why, and how long it is kept.

Developers & API

REST endpoints, keys, webhooks and the public tenant API.

Does Lekhio have an API?

Yes — a complete REST API covering collections, records, orders, invoices, inventory and finance, with JWT authentication, scoped API keys, documented rate limits, webhooks and a live playground on the Developers page.

Can I connect Lekhio to other systems?

Yes. Use the REST API to push and pull data, and webhooks to be notified when something changes in Lekhio, so you can drive an e-commerce storefront, a logistics partner or your own internal tooling from the same source of truth.

Do API keys have limited scope?

Yes. Keys are scoped, so an integration gets exactly the access it needs and nothing more, and a key can be revoked on its own without disturbing anyone’s login.

What is the public tenant API?

An opt-in, read-only API keyed by your 8-character public tenant ID. It lets you expose selected data — a catalog, for example — to a website or partner without handing over credentials. It is off until you turn it on.

Does Lekhio handle large datasets?

Yes. Lists are paginated with cursor-based lazy loading and server-side query timeouts, so a page of results is fast whether the collection holds a thousand rows or a million. You control page size, and tables offer configurable pagination controls per page.

Pricing & plans

What things cost, what counts as a user and how billing works.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Starter plan is free forever and includes one organization, up to three users, customizable collections, and full sales, orders and invoicing. It is a real working plan, not a time-limited trial.

Do I need a credit card to get started?

No. You can create an account and start using Lekhio without entering any payment details. A card is only needed if you choose to upgrade to a paid plan.

What counts as a user?

A user is any person with their own login who can view or edit data in your organization. Starter supports up to three users; Growth and Enterprise include unlimited users, so you can invite the whole team.

Is there an annual discount?

Yes. Paying annually saves roughly 20% compared with month-to-month billing on paid plans, and you can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time from your account settings.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Plans are month-to-month with no lock-in. You can downgrade or cancel whenever you like and keep access through the end of your current billing period, with your data exportable via CSV throughout.

What happens to my data if I downgrade?

Nothing is deleted. Features above your new plan become unavailable, but your records stay intact and exportable, and everything returns as it was if you upgrade again.
